50xTales of Totems

After last years disaster during NaNoWriMo I committed myself a second time this year and, thankfully this time without any hospitalization of yours truly, pushed through writing the first draft for fifty chapters of Tales of Totems. Hurray! That is a little over fifty thousand words for all my readers to enjoy. I hope, with writing so far ahead, I can bring the quality of Tales of Totems to another level. Thanks for reading my work. If you want to contact me, you can send me a message on Instagram! Please let me know any feedback that you have on…

Chapter 82: Milling It Over

“Yeah, nice job holding onto that bucket.” Morn grinned. “Woah- You guys.”Lumira fetched the bucket from the tree while Morn went to check on Acantha, who had by now, come to her senses. “What happened?” she asked Morn. “We got what we came for, let’s go,” proposed Lumira.Jade, still holding on to the bucket that she did not want, went up the stairs behind her friends. As inconspicuously as she could, she put down the bucket on the stairs behind her so that Morpheus’ first diciple could find it there and walked away. But when she did, the bucket started…

Chapter 81: Party Bucket

“Acantha, come on, you know better,” Lumira said, “Aoda can’t be dead, she’s your Totem, right?” If Lumira had believed in Totems, she would have probably been able to make it sound more convincing. Acantha let herself fall to her knees and allowed Jade to put a hand on her shoulder. The spawn girl touched Aoda on one of her six scaly arms that was as cold as the forest floor in winter, when it had been covered with a layer of ice. Acantha stroked over the golden scales and saw them glisten under her touch. She picked up the…

Chapter 80: Awake in Dreamland

In the water-filled basin Acantha, Morn and Jade managed to get some shuteye. The trick was to not let your breathing holes in the water. Jade had done so by placing her head on the edge of the basin. Acantha preferred to put her head on her backpack. Morn had relied on their head to float, which it somehow managed to do. Lumira was restless, she walked from window to window. She was sure she had seen a man, a rather large man. She had to solve this puzzle and she was sure that the running giant had something to…

Chapter 79: All Your Basin

Morn had now prepared a fireball in their hand and threw it at one of the birds. Instead of catching fire, Morn felt something burning on their own arm. It took all their effort not to yelp.“It’s Avron’s domain!” Acantha shouted at Morn and she wrapped one of her vines around their upper arm to make sure to catch them when they would fall. “Avron won’t let you hurt others.”“But they are able to attack us?” Jade shouted.“No, they’re just trying to push you off,” Lumira answered. “But-”“Just run!”Jade waited for a bird to fly over her head and then…

Chapter 78: Air Domain

It took Lumira another two hours to finish cutting out the man-sized hole in the mountain. Once done she took a step back.“Can someone help me carry this?”Without missing a beat Morn stepped forward, grabbed the rock and pulled it away. “O-kay, thanks.”The four of them stood looking through the hole in the mountain. It took them some time to wrap their heads around what they saw. “What is this?” Acantha asked, but no one answered. On the other side of the passage they saw the sky and, in the distance, mountains. It was as if a whole other world was…
