It was a sunny day. A few clouds trailed from mountaintop to mountaintop. A shadow flew between the clouds. The caster of the shadow was nowhere to be seen. The shadow had the shape of a falcon and bore the name Turnfeather. It had noticed the other birds and took care not to touch them. Down below, in the stone valley, Turnfeather saw a giant insect-like creature. The shadow descended. Two large creatures with wings circled in the distance. Turnfeather ignored them. They were not his prey. The distance between the shadow and the insect decreased and Turnfeather saw that,…
Leave a CommentMonth: November 2018
Earlier this year, I committed myself to writing 50.000 words in November. These fifty-thousand words would be the first draft of my new novel. I had it all planned out. I told my friends I couldn’t meet them and scheduled for December instead. I even took some days off from work. It started out a bit slow. But I kept on writing daily. I went to writing events and participated in word-wars so that I could continue putting words on paper. I was going to produce a novel. I was enjoying myself. I was proud. And then I got sick.…
Leave a CommentThe black-robed man approached them steadily. Jade shot a look towards Acantha, who shrugged. He didn’t seem hostile. “Good morning,” Jade greeted the stranger. The stranger stood still and lifted his head. From under his hood, long blonde locks of hair flowed out. His face was barely visible. “Good morning,” the man replied in a husky voice, “do you happen to know the way to the forge lords?” “Eh,” Jade hesitated, she prepared to ask him what he meant, but Acantha took over. “Yes, we just visited them, actually.” “Great, could you show me the way?” “What business do you…
Leave a Comment“Thanks you for coming back to check on Decker,” Black said. Giving each of them a hot steaming cup. Now that the workshop was no longer on fire, it was pleasantly cool. Acantha looked down into the cup. The liquid inside had tiny pieces floating around in it. It smelled rich, like walking through a hot steamy forest. After she saw the two men drinking it, she carefully took a sip, instantly burning her upper lip and tongue. She winced and looked at Jade, who wasn’t paying her any mind, but instead looked through the room. “No problem,” Acantha responded.…
Leave a CommentJade and Acantha stepped out from between the trees into the small open space around the lake. It was peaceful, quiet. Very different from the last time they had been here. During their previous visit the lake had been boiling and they were being barraged with stones by weemen. Acantha moved towards the water and dipped her foot in. “Feels cold,” she said, turning her head around towards Jade and shaking her foot to get rid of the water on her toes. “I guess that’s a good sign,” Jade replied. “Wanna go into the cave?” Acantha didn’t wait for an…
Leave a CommentAcantha stared at the giant snake that had just landed in front of the three of them. A pretty young woman sat on top of the snake. Her black hair fell down straight over her shoulders. Small, writhing snakes covered her female form that seemed otherwise naked. “Who are you?” Acantha asked the woman. “I’m Effy. Aoda told me to retrieve the lost,” The woman held her eyes closed but inclined her head as if she could see, “Now, let’s stop wasting time. Are you coming or would you like me to leave you here?” Acantha glanced around, the forest…
